Dynamically improved chassis
Range Rover Sport is 4,972 millimeters in length (4.183 the more potent V8 5.0 mm), 2.158 millimeters wide, 1.784 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,880 mm, keeping the same dimensions of the model launched in 2008.
The front suspension uses a MacPherson type axle while the rear suspension is a double Trapeze System. To improve the dynamic performance, suspension features an electronic system, latest technology in the field of air suspensions, with system Adaptive Dynamics that exerts a firm vehicle cornering control while is pampers occupants inside. This pneumatic suspension system is complemented by a few new DampTronic dampers, which feature a new valve technology active, able to vary their pressure up to 500 times per second, continuously adapting to the conditions of surface and driving style.
Brake system varies according to mechanical versions. Diesel versions have front ventilated discs 360 mm in diameter, with four-piston fixed caliper, while the more powerful version of the SuperCharged V8, supercharged gasoline, has ventilated disks of greater diameter, 380 mm in diameter, developed by Brembo, with six-piston opposed aluminum calipers. In all three versions, the rear discs are also vented, 365 mm in diameter with a piston sliding caliper.
Also, new is the steering system which now has a ratio of variable gear ratio which improves stability. Roll Stability Control system allows to offer a control precise chassis performance, responding to the movements of the steering wheel from the driver and intervening on wheels, individually, if the possibility of a rollover is detected.
Terrain Response extends its functions
The Terrain Response system, completely developed by Land Rover, has been enhanced with the addition of three new functions, which allow to increase and improve the dynamic behaviour of the chassis of the new Range Rover Sport 2011, ensuring security in any type of terrain.
The new Sand Launch Control function, which will be available from the launch of the new Range Rover Sport, improves the boot in sand, adding a greater capacity of traction, even in the program rocks.
This update offers two new features, Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control. The first function retains the initial pressure of the brake, which gives more easily the driver to change from the brake pedal to the accelerator and prevents the vehicle back when you start the movement in a slope land. The brake is automatically released after one sufficient time has elapsed or when the engine has achieved sufficient torque to overcome the inclination. This system is permanently activated.

New mechanical diesel with two levels of power
The new Range Rover Sport has a new block of six cylinders in V and three liters of displacement that develops 211 HP and 255 maximum horsepower, both at 4,000 RPM, with 520 and 600 Nm of torque, available from 2,000 RPM, respectively.

The key to the performance of the new engine and the efficiency is the system of parallel sequential turbochargers, one of fixed geometry and other variable. During normal driving only operates a turbocharger, medium sized, variable geometry, optimizing efficiency. When the engine speed rise beyond the 2,400 RPM, open valves in the exhaust manifold and a smaller turbocharger accelerates to full speed in just 20 milliseconds, the fully operational bi-turbo is accomplished in only 180 milliseconds.
